Apparently my garden thinks Spring has sprung. I'm already getting Crocus blooms (pics to come soon) and I'm seeing some buds for my Anemones. I also planted an orchid last year that didn't really do anything except grow a leaf or two. Today though, I noticed about 6 or 7 shoots coming up. I'm getting really excited to see life come back to my garden.
I know just what you mean as I have snowdrops, crocus, cyclamen and polyanthus flowering here. My magnolia has fuzzy leaf buds and my forsythia and fruit bushes are putting out new leaves. It may not be spring yet but I have no objections to my garden being fooled into thinking it is!!
spring It's just so early. I noticed my daffs were up out of the ground a month ago, a record. Yesterday I checked them and they are still tight with no bud showing so I'm hoping for a not-too-early bloom. Had so many warm spells here (z6bTN) I wish I knew for certain what the weather is gonna do, don't we all!
Oh yea, Eileen, I'm not complaining either. I just find it odd for everything to be happening in January instead of later when it usually starts. Rockhound, I know what you mean. I'm right below you in Georgia and I don't think we have had more than 2 days where it was below freezing. It's quite a change from last year. And yes I do wish I could tell the weather too. It could be 80 one day and freezing the next. My daffs are coming up too as well as my Hyacinths.
67 degrees here in NE Oklahoma today. Would have been a great day for me to ride but still waiting on a trike part! Story of my life!
I envy you southern folks springy weather.I've seen it get to 80 degrees here in Feb.Hope it does that this year.On those unseasonably warm days I work hard at keeping seedlings in my greenhouse from burning up. Okietriker,Is your trike a Harley? My hub rode a cycle to work for years. He had a near fatal accident in 1998 & didn't want to ride again. Doris
spring Well, they have revised the zone map. Funny tho I have been in 6b for 20+ yrs, before that zone 7, now with global warming I'm in 7a, go figger. http://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/PHZMWeb/
spring Yesterday I saw the first daffodil bud starting to grow down amongst the leaf blades. I think that means I'll have blooms in a couple weeks, barring a very cold spell, lower than 18-20F or so. The leaves shot up over a month ago and just stopped growing, now this. But they always bloom sometime in Feb, so it's business as usual I suppose. :-D
