spotted my first robin yesterday to bad the ground is still frozen. Hope he didn't break his beakie trying to find the "wormcicles"
Yippee!! I usually judge how close spring is by the arrival of Robin's, but this year I had them almost all winter! Come to think of it, I haven't seen it lately. I wonder what THAT means?
We've got a couple of robins overwintering here, facing food shortage and sneaky cats. My spring sign is the wagtail.
I have no idea what birds here show its spring, since we had magpies, seagulls and crows all winter. But for me its when i can actually start to see patches of the driveway thru the snow!! Now were talking spring is on the way!
The thaw has set in here (except for night frosts.) I don't consider spring has sprung though until my forsythia flowers. Nothing yet.
We have robins here that over winter...why, with such cold weather I am not sure? Our first sign of spring is seeing the red winged black birds and I just seen one yesterday when I took the dogs for a walk... Our snow is melting and the flowers are poking up but it will not fool me...I know we will be in for a couple more snow falls at least but it just won't last as long with the warmer temps. We have had snow in June so anything can happen..
