This H.F.Young Clematis has been growing up the windmill for 5+ years and I do believe that the blooms get larger each year. The horse was a gift from a friend, he had painted it gold but that was several years ago. ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) The Ville do Lyon Clematis suffered badly last year so I was thrilled to see it come back strong and beautiful even if I only get that one bloom from it. Ville de Lyon Clematis, only one bloom this year ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) The front garden is 5 years old so the plants are really coming into their maturity and this Spring the weather has given them a chance to slowly grow large and bloom time is longer. Scabiosa and Guara came back strong this Spring ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I have two containers of peanuts out in the front garden just for the Blue Jays. This one had just spotted the second one and seconds after I clicked the photo it swooped down to grab a snack. Blue Jay just spotted the bowl of peanuts in the shade bed ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Remember the Farmall tractor hood I came home with last year... Simply wonderful Toni! Your garden is so GREEN compared to mine ... I just barely have daffodils up! The size of your Scabiosa is amazing, it really likes it there
Toni, it all looks like summer. I especially like the iris and the clematis around the gold horse :-D nice.
This spring, with it's cooler temps, have really given your garden a boost, hasn't it? Everything looks smashing! Let's hope the summer isn't too brutal so all your lovelies will be just as pretty next year.
Thanks everyone, I have really been amazed at how lush everything has been this Spring. And yep, it's the continued cooler weather we have had that made it happen...just think what it would all look like if we had been having rain during the last 4 months I have read that most perennials take up to 5 years to reach the full growth and it was 5 years ago this June I started digging up the front yard. The Scabiosa and Guara in photo are in the area about 4 feet to the right of the end of the fence panel on the left. This is the beginning of the front yard transformation... 2 more fence panels and a dish bed
wow Toni... I remember when you first posted that. Your front yard has really become a place of beauty. Great job... now let's hope for some rain soon.
