Oh, goodness, they are cute, even if they are larcenous! Squirrels and chipmunks--the bane of bird feeders. :smt063

:D Oh, my! What a smart, little squirrel, crawling inside the feeder to get to the goodies. The chipmunk's too cute for words. :D

After many, many years of trying to stop squirrels raiding my bird feeders I seem to have them out foxed at long last. However, they still come into the garden and dig holes everywhere to deposit the nuts from neighbours feeders. I guess I'm just going to have to live with them. They do make great photographic subjects though don't they? :stew2:

Thanks for your comments Jane, Droopy & Eileen.
We have tried live trapping them and it didn't make a difference, other squirrels & Chipmunks took took their place. My husband go tired of drive them to a new location so we just live with them. The are frustrating but entertaining.

Adorable! I love our squirrels, I buy corn cobs and they are so comical grabbing the kernels. The only birds that try to chase them away are the hummingbirds and the bluejays!

Great pictures...the chipmunks here have been taste testing my small patio tomatoes to make sure they are alright for us to eat....they haven't given us the OK yet...ha,ha..those little stinkers can sure get themselves into trouble. They scare me when I walk in the garage after the door is closed and if you walk their way, they squeal and I jump....of course after they do that, I open the door so they can run out. Smart little things.

Those pics are just great, Gail. You have a good yard to attract these photogenic critters.

This is obviously a squirrel feeder, mislabeled a bird feeder. :)

Thanks ChrisGzr, Frank,Cheryl, Theodoros, Sherry, Sjoerd and Jerry. I have yet to find a "bird" feeder the squirrels can't get too. I currently have the pole in the middle of a rose bush. It limits the trips they make up the pole :D

That is quite a cute photo. We have quite a few squirrels around our feeders. Grey, Fox, and Red squirrels. Our neighbor hates the Red squirrels and traps and kills them :'( . I know they can be pretty destructive, but they are so darn cute. 2yrs ago now one was gathering up our black walnuts and hauling them off in the direction of Bills garage. We thought nothing of it and were glad that the squirrels were picking them up for us. Later that fall Bill noticed that a corner in his suspended ceiling in his garage was sagging. So he started to take the tile down and about 75 walnuts came dropping out on him. :D :D The little Red squirrel had found a way in and was storing up some winter food. Oh ya. Bill doesn't have a door on his garage. Plus it has a dirt floor. Go figure. So now he set a live trap and shots only the Red squirrels he traps. :scheming: I told him if he would put a floor in his garage and a door he wouldn't have those critters in their. I could :'( because they are so fun to watch. We had a family of at least 4 little reds earlier this summer. Now I only see one coming to the feeder. I'm glad I am not a Red squirrel. He is the same guy that said he was going to cut all his Ash trees down so they wouldn't get the Ash bore coming into our area. What is wrong with this picture?
