    A so called "Topfturm" ( photo / image / picture from gardenelf's Garden )

Saw them make one of these on German tv. Such a cool idea, I made one myself! They call it a "Topfturm", which means as much as a pot tower. Can be made 2 ways: either you thread compost filled pots onto a sturdy bamboo cane which has been firmly secured in the soil, or you stack your filled pots loose (but then they should each be "buried" quite deep into the previous pot, for stability). :stew1:

Those pots look lovely like that and they save space in the garden too. What have you planted in them Gardenelf?

I enjoy seeing such interesting things. What do you have planted in that tower of yours?

I am looking forward to seeing your tower later on when the plants are blooming or hanging.

You sort of have your own Tower of Babel, don't you! ;)

I'm afraid the planting is as much of an experiment as the rest of this project ;)
    From top to bottom:
-Nicotiana (or so it said on the packet of seeds, looks nothing like I've ever seen, though  )
    -Lobelia
    -Petunia
    -Lobelia
-Nicotiana (the kind I'm familiar with)

As they are all tiny baby plants, it will take a while before they flower. I tend to plant little plugs, and then thin them out as time goes by.
More pictures when in bloom, watch this space ;)

    Are the lobelia's hanglobelia?

Interesting choices. It ought to look pretty nice I should think.

Yes, Sjoerd, they are indeed "hanglobelia".
I myself am also very curious as to how it will look when the plants mature. Just hope they won't get too big! :D
(the rather large phlox behind it may also become a bit of a problem, as neither they nor the tower can be moved. Cramming as many plants as one can into a tiny space can have serious consequences  )

The plants in the top pot are beginning to look a lot like..... poppies
Just checked the packet of seeds AGAIN, it definitely says Nicotiana Crimson Bedder.
    Who's right??? :?:

BTW, I think those seedlings could be nicotania.

Thanks, Cayuga Morning, that's made me feel much better. It means the lovely flowers I was hoping for may appear after all! (my favourite colours in the garden are always the deep purple/reds) :-D

Apparently, this Topfturm-thing is quite common in Germany. When you Google it you'll see them in all shapes, sizes & styles.

Me like a lot! :stew2: I've got a tipsy planter tower already, and might make a tower like yours just for fun.

Nicotiana 'Crimson Bedder' seeds turned out to be poppies ( photo / image / picture from gardenelf's Garden )

After they got way too big for my little tower, I moved a few around. Turned out to be poppies after all. They are pretty, but I would have preferred Nicotiana Crimson Bedder. :stew1:

(Have replanted the top pot with Petunia pirouette purple. These were grown from seed quite late, so flowers should follow in the next few weeks. Watch this space....)
