I have to admit that I purchased this iris from an eBay seller because of the name. It was also one of those auctions where the photo of the plant looks so unusual you buy it out of curiosity. I've been burned many times doing this, as sometimes the real thing just doesn't live up to the advertisement. However, in this case, it does! My other new iris is 'Avalon Sunset'.
Beeeutiful!! I bought Starship Enterprise last summer with a gift certificate from my MIL. Hope it's as pretty as yours!!!! I will have to look for Avalon since I live on Avalon Place! My iris are a long way from blooming yet :-|
For years I had the impression that iris came in two or three colors. Far from it!! Amazing colors, amazing pictures. Jerry
Thanks for the kind words everyone. The scary thing is I just discovered there is an iris farm about 90 minutes from where I live. I'm going to have to pay them a visit sometime.
Pianolady... a word of caution about having an Iris farm nearby (or in my case, a Daylily farm). Only take a certain amount of money with you or... well... there goes the budget! :-D
