on the last day of summer. I got the 2 rain barrels drained, cleaned out and put away for the winter. They had 3 tree frogs in them and untold numbers of earwigs.
You just reminded me i have to purchase a large rain barrel,..early next year we will have to pay for water supply,..so with the amount of rain we get i might as well save rain water for gardening,..plus the water will come in handy were we to have frozen pipes in the town this winter.
Yesterday I pulled a few remaining weeds out of the garlic bed and threw a gardencart full of compost on it. My garlic will be planted in about 10-14 days, and I'll manure the bed shortly before planting. Very few fall chores here yet--I can't get enthused about fall until the daytime temps get below 90!
