With the raining season here, it had been raining in the early afternoon almost every other day if not every day for the last month or so. Coupled with my laziness :D and the battle with the nutgrass again my mini-farm is now in a state of neglect :(

Today I harvested my only last decent growing veggie bed of ipomea aquatica or water convolvulus .... kangkung commonly known here.

These water convolvulus are special, they were grown from seeds that I had saved from 3 planting cycles .... they are really organic :-D

I only cut the main stem leaving the roots and side stems intact. In this way I can have a few more harvest before I have to rehabilitate the bed for a new crop.

With the nutgrass infested bed rehabilitated and a new batch of "bok choy" germinating, okra and sweet basil too!! Weather getting better, yes it's time for me to get out of this doldrums :D Oh ya !! not forgetting the inspiration from Sojerd's corn!! :D :-D

My back garden has been sadly neglected because of too much rain as well KK. Now the sun has decided to emerge (at last) so, hopefully, I can get outside to work on it over the week-end.
Your Kangkung is something I've never seen before. How do you cook it and what do you serve with it? I wonder if it's something I could grow here in Scotland as I love trying new things out.

I foresee some recipes from KK Ng in the near future. *drooling*

I sympatize with your weed battle. I've managed to fill up four empty ditbags with weeds today, and I've still got about half the garden to weed. The worst half, of course.

I to sympathize with you. I use the mulch, mulch, mulch routine to help keep them down, then they are easier to pull too.

I know what you mean too ... I hurt my back early spring and it is just getting better now. My gardens are VERY weedy!

Yep, the weeds are alive and doing well in Nebraska, due to so much rain here too!
I'm with featherphobia, mulch, mulch, mulch!
Mulch has really helped me keep the weeds to a minimum in my gardens.
However, I am a professional weed puller :D and there is no shortage of work!
All that being said, KK it looks like your mini farm has done well! I am intigued by your kangkung, and how you use it! Do tell....

Thanks all for you sympathies and support, the weather is really fine today and I went into a weeding and mulching frenzy ....OOooooo.. my poor back is hurting a litle now and keeping my finger crossed that I can still do some tomorrow :D I even got a blister on my finger which is something that I had not had for a very long long time.

Eileen I had seen kangkung being cultivated in Taiwan and it is also a dish available in their restaurants. It is called "ong choy" in Chinese Cantonese dialect. If they can be grown in Taiwan, I am sure they can grow in Scotland from Spring??

As to how it is cook I'll post a recipe in the recipe section ya!! :-D We had for lunch and it is yummie!!
