Its a type of Spanish Bayonet,..very palm like,..i have another as seen in the attached picture,..taken in June this year,..they look good in the garden,..but many people here lost them with the winter temperatures down to -19C,..of course that was a first for us.

    Hi Cheryl,
i have every confidence in the "Gaillardia" becoming a resident in the garden,..but for some reason it was slow to come to seedling stage and so the reason it still hasn't reached its full colour,..however if we have more days like yesterday then it surely will,..we had temperatures in the garden of 26C-78F.

Your season lasts soooooooooo long. The flowers will soon be asleep and only memories and your garden will sustain the wonders that were summer. Great stragglers!! Thank you Philip.

    Hi Jerry,
nice words indeed,..yes our Autumn lasts until the end of October,..but even now its very warm,..but the temperature fluctuates from high to low within hours,..with mist or rain as a bonus,..or punishment.

The plant below is one i tend to overlook,..i have about four of them,"Ophiopogon planiscapus,'Nigrescens',..and they do flower.
