Had th Oriole feeder out and had a female come to it once. But she never came back. A juvenile came to it several times but couldn't figure out how to push the little balls in to get to the nectar. The spring loaded balls are there to keep bees, bugs and wasps out. So the kid has been drinking from the humming bird feeder. He practicly drained it in 4 visits yesterday. So today I filled it full at 2 cups of nectar.

Hopefully the youngster will accidently get the feeder to work. Once he's done that he should get the idea of what to do. Pity the female isn't still around to show him the ropes though.

Netty, they make a special hangar for the humming bird and Oriole feeders. It has a water cup on it and a hanger at the top and one at the bottom. You hang it at the top and then hang the feeder at the bottom. Fill the cup with water and the ants can't get to the feeder without swimming. Ants don't swim too good! I made mine out of caps from cans of spray paint. But you can but them online or in bird feeding stores.

I hope the kid figurers out soon what to do but sounds like he is just lazy and took the easy way out.
