It was cold this morning, down to 17 deg. so I got a fire going in the wood burner. The cat was in his usual place, on his mat between the wall and the backside of the stove. He was sleeping because I could hear him snoring. All of a sudden I hear a commotion from behind the stove and the cat was standing in the hallway! A claw had gotten caught in his mat and it was out there with him. I got the mat put back and he wouldn't go anywhere near it for about a half hour. I think he had a nightmare that something was after him and when he jumped, the mat scared him even more when it jumped at him. Either that or his play mouse that is stuffed with catnip, actually did attack him!
I was laughing aloud when I read this! It reminds me of my silly cat the other day-she had a similar experience with a plastic bag getting caught in her claws! She was terrified and the faster she ran, the more noise the bag made making her run faster again! When I finally caught her, her little heart was just pounding. I had to laugh at her-what a goofball!
Bet the commotion gave you a bit of a start too CK. Sorry but I had to laugh - when cats move they really move don't they and at a surprising turn of speed? I hope he's calmed down enough to return to his mat and sleeping place.
He settled down agter about 1/2 hour and went back to his mat. But he spent the rest of the day there. I went over and felt him once and he felt like he must have been about 102 deg! I was expecting him to go POOF, up in flames!
We had a white cat who used to cook herself in front of our wood insert - amazing she didn't turn toasted brown, she would get so hot. She obviously loved it. Poor kitty - I wonder what that dream was!
Ohh poor kitty, don't tell him but I had to laugh also!! My cats are constantly doing something to keep me laughing!! I'm glad he finally did calm down-after a good laugh you do feel sorry for them!! What would we do without our kitty laughs!!
