As much as I would like to try my hand at hypertuffa, I have so many other things my hands are busy doing that it just hasn't happened yet....so I bought this planter last year. Now it is the home to .... Left side top - Anacampseros rufescens bottom - Graptosedum 'Bronze' Right side top - Anacampseros telephiastrum 'Variegated' bottom - Crassula picturata Center - Echeveria x 'Mazarine' When I was looking up information on the Echiveria x 'Mazarine' I could find absolutely nothing, anywhere that I could use to add it to the GS/Plants database. Even the growers website had nothing about it, no photo or any info. So I emailed them. I had a very interesting and helpful correspondence with Bob Reidmuller, Resident Horticulturist at Altman Plants, Inc. CactusCollection.com He discovered that the label had been printed wrong and talked to their hybridist who had created it 20 years ago and she gave us both the correct and complete name of the plant. I was thrilled to have so much help getting this one figured out...it pays to contact the source when you have a problem with a plant. Succulent pot ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) And I just realized that I need to cover the surface of the soil with some gravel to better show off the plants.
Lovely variety of colors and textures. The plants will fill in so quick the soil will quickly be covered. Wish it was dry enough to really get into the garden here. Nice seeing your work
I agree with Jewell. You certainly have a great combination of colours there Toni. Your Echeveria x 'Mazarine' is gorgeous. So glad you managed to get the help you needed.
A nice tub full of succulents. Looks like your perseverance for information payed off. One of this summers projects is to try hypertufa, versatile stuff. Jerry
I like that idea and might have to try something like it myself because I too love succulents and cacti. Your Echiveria is also a very good looking plant. It's pretty cool that the growers went through all that just to give you the information about it.
Hi, yes a real good contrast of colour and texture when they mature they will look great.White or pale co lour small pebbles will look even better, here in the humidity it is recommended to use small pebbles or gravel to keep their 'necks' dry to avoid rot.
You have a really nice -looking tub full of plants there. I'll bet that they fill in the open places quickly too. I guess that filling in with gravel might make them feel at home, so to speak.
