My main interests are the Anglo-Zulu War 1879, Gardening/Garden Design. However, away from those I tend to enjoy Sudoku, and am at present awaiting a Kakuro book. Additionally, I'm quite keen to try Origami, which is the art of paper-folding. Anyone else tried Sudoku, Kakuro or Origami ? C.J. PS. I've done a bit of origami. We made some origami birds and strung them together to make a garland for christmas last year. I really enjoyed it. I like Sudoku as well.
My husband is addicted to sudoku - I prefer crosswords myself - not so keen on numbers I'm afraid. One of my sons makes origami shapes - really amazing what you can do with just a piece of paper isn't it?!!! Maybe if you talk nicely to Frank he would include these games on the forums.
Here's a story about origami. When our oldest son Tom was in high school he learned to fold origami bunnies. He made one and put it on his English teacher's desk when she was out of the room. She made a big fuss over how cute it was, so next day there were three origami bunnies on her desk. Next day there were nine origami bunnies on her desk, then twenty seven and then, well every day the number tripled. Tom enlisted the help of his friends and the bunnies continues to multiply until the room was full of bunnies. The hardest part was getting them into the room without the teacher seeing them. Finally she asked them to stop. She didn't know who was making them but she wanted them to stop. They told her they didn't know who was doing it, but you know how bunnies multiply. Dooley
Sudoku (and Kakuro) is a great puzzle to make you focus on solving the grids. I thought it looked an easy puzzle to play. I was mistaken. Not too bad at completing them now though. Origami, although termed an art, does look very enjoyable and relaxing, being a bit more like a craft than a puzzle like the above items. I'm sure I seen a character in a film who made origami items and that was when I first noticed the art. C.J.
As with the Origami booklets, I obtained a set of 3 Kakuro books. I'll tell you, between these, the Origami, Sudoku and chess (book and boardgame) as well as on this site, they all should keep me busy for say....well...the rest of my life ! C.J.
I never made origami figures. I've tried Sudoku, like Eileen I'm not to keen on numbers either!! But I love tea bag folding! I add them to my scrapbook pages when possible.Dooley the bunnies story is very funny!!Did she ever find out who all made them?
She never found out who made them. All of the kids were in on it by the end and no one would say who did it or who started it. I wonder what she did with all of them. Dooley
