June and July were extra hot and extra wet, The same for the first 2 weeks of Aug. But this morning it's 60 degrees and Thurs and Fri they say low 50's. In fact they are saying 51 for Col. so that means out here in the boondocks it will be down in the 40's.

Tues. we were over near Columbus Ohio and were driving along the Scioto River. The trees had a tinge of yellow, so the leaves are starting to turn already. Some trees in town are starting too turn also. All of the nut bearing trees here are dropping nuts early. The oaks, walnuts and hickory nuts are doing it. And all of this is one to two months early.

We had 25 straight days of temperatures at 100 degrees or above. Today we woke up to 71 degrees, and a light cool breeze. I spent most of the day in the vegetable garden weeding, cutting back tomatoes and uprooting okra. A few more days like this will kill me!
We've had more rain than usual, and although it is the end of August we still have green! Usually by now everything is a nice, crisp brown and there are burn bans all over the state. If this is weird weather, send more, please!

Well 58 deg. F here this morning. Haven't run the A/C at night for 2 weeks. But it does make it nice for cutting firewood this morning. I am going to take down a tree that a storm took the top out of about a month ago. The rest of it is pretty much dead so down it comes.

I agree, it's been a strange summer. Our heat came in mid-August. Before that it was cold and rather wet. *sigh* A very bad year for the veggies I'm afraid.
