,,,,,,,,,goes hand in hand! So does Waffles and Blueberries. Here in Norway, the waffle is our countries nation dessert. We love our waffles. We have special irons for making waffles called rosette waffle irons, and when summertime comes, all those good fresh fruits we go out into the hills, woods, mountains or back yards to pick get put into the waffle. Tonight after dinner, we decided to go pick just enough blueberries to make "jam" out of,, berries and sugar, mashed, let sit for a while, then eat as fast as you can. Why as fast as you can. So you can get some, it goes fast its so good.

I'm not going to give any recipes, just make some waffles, any kind, it don't have to be the rosette. Use fresh fruit from your gardens or from out picking, and you have our national dessert. Add some fresh whipped cream, and its extra special.

The waffle is used many ways here. The local kids from schools sell waffles at stores, fresh on order to raise money for various clubs. Everywhere you go in summer here, someone has waffles to offer. At parties, the waffle iron is brought out and as you sit and talk, everyone takes part in making waffle. Also for cake and coffee hours, the iron is brought out instead of cake. If a good movie is on and its cold outside, the iron is brought out and the family makes waffles right in the front of the tv so nothing is missed. The waffle is more than just a pretty piece of pastry, its a way of life here in any part of Norway. So get out your waffle iron that is sitting way in the back of the cupboard, dust it off, and make a batch of waffles, fresh from scratch or a mix, it don't matter, and put that iron to making some good family and friend memories. Don't own a waffle iron (gasp!!) buy some. Ohhh yeah, don't forget the blueberries,,,,,,or strawberries,,,,or currents,,,or tyttebær,,,,or, or,,,,,

You are bound and determined to ruin out diet aren't you????? ;) We sometimes have waffles for breakfast and most restaurants that serve breakfast also serve waffles. You can find Belgian waffles for sale at the State Fair and Six Flags amusement park.

Geez, guess I could get the waffle maker out. I have blueberries, some chocolate coolwhip and waffle mix. Oh man and I can't get out in the yard to work those calories off either.

lol,, i think you have a bit of a problem there,,lol. But i spent the day, well about 4 hours picking blueberries and got them all packed and put into the freezer, and my 2 guys,,KB and Balder wanted waffles,,sigh,, so the 3 of us went out to get just a little more. I told them if they wanted waffles then they had to help get the blueberries,,lol. Before i could get my clogs on,,they was already down the driveway to the field.

Good idea! I have a bowl full from the farmer's market and that would be great tonight...though I gotta say... I'm a bit envious of the heart-shaped waffles. Just too cool!

Waffles, mmm...mmm. My son will put chocolate chips in waffles. I just couldn't go w/out waffles any longer so acouple of weeks ago I just bought one (waffle iron) off e-bay. Love them with syrup or grape jam. We have them at breakfast or dinner or anytime I'm hungry for them.

Oh my...I could really get to liking those, Biita. They sound terrific.

I would have liked to have seen all the blueberries that you guys picked. That would have been interesting.

    Thanks all,,they were good too!

Rarely, is waffles ever made for breakfast. Now there might be some if their is left overs,,but that is rare also,,lol. At least in this house.

I plan on going back out today for more blueberries,,i'll post how our blueberries grow and my harvest. They don't grow the same here as they do in warmer climates.

Well, we had waffles for breakfast because I was sitting here reading the posts and couldn't resist getting up and going to the kitchen and making waffles. I just happened to have blueberries and strawberries in the refrigerator. I also had that nice apricot jam that didn't fully jell. Now, we are full to the brim and won't need to eat until supper time. Thanks, Biita! dooley
