My husband, bless his Irish background, has a sunburn on March 5! He has been out all day, cutting up a fallen tree, mowing the barn lot, and weed-whacking the fence line. His nose is red (think Rudolph the reindeer), his knees are red, and he keeps saying that he doesn't have a sunburn. He is in serious denial!
I, on the other hand, with a Mediterranean background mixed with a little Native American, don't burn. Oh, I am going to have fun teasing him tonight!

Oh, poor guy. I haven't had a sunburn in several years but I do remember how uncomfortable they are.
I have Irish ancestors too, both my daughters are red heads with very light skin and burn like a marshmallow over a camp fire in just a very few minutes outside.

As all my ancestors embarked from the emerald isle I too have a similar pedigree. My wife once described my ability to get a sunburn as: "He gets a sunburn walking across the parking lot on his way to the beach". Yep, done that! I can empathize with your husband, sunblock(yuck) and a hat are my friends. When I lived in NM, a hat was a must and I often wore a long sleeve shirt. Least I fry like a Tamale.

Jane, Sorry to hear he has such a reward for his efforts. The last time I got sunburned really bad (think water blisters all over my arms and shoulders) I had some epsoms salt water made for something else ( I really don't remember why) and I was wringing the wash cloth over the sunburn, dribbling the water all over the blisters...by the next morning I had no oozing sunburn, it had dried up and the red was all gone also. I hope he feels better soon!

Yes Cal, we had temps in the mid-70's and he got reckless! Shorts, tee shirt, no hat, equals a roasted hubby!
Oh, Carolyn, that sounds as if it were so painful--ouch! Luckily he just turned red, no blisters and he was able to sleep well, so there wasn't much pain either.
I had a sunburn once. We went to the Caribbean on vacation for two weeks, snorkeling every day, most of the day on the beach, and my nose peeled. That was it--a little peeling! Every time I mention that and the trauma I suffered ( ) hubby gets huffy. I wonder why?

I Got Very sun-burned last year. Up on ladder painting the South side of house.Forgot to put sun-screen on. I was telling friend about a couple of weeks ago. Said she read. To take egg whites-whip them and put on burn. She knew someone had gotten burned bad. And lady did that. EMT said mostly he wouldn't have face scared so bad because she did it.
