I have a small problem and not sure of fix.
Something is eating my sunflower leaves and my friend has ants all over her sunflowers.
Is this a normal thing and if not,how can it be cured?
    thanks

Hi ed, I'm not sure what would be eating your sunflowers without a picture and maybe more inof.

The ants all over your friends sunflower is indicative of an aphid infestation and the ants are "milking" them. The ants are very aggressive if you even touch the plant. You need to spray the sunflower with soapy water under all the leaves or an insecticide of some kind. The soapy water is convienient and cheap. I use dawn and make it pretty soapy. You could add a tablespoon of cooking oil and rubbing alcohol to a mixture of a couple gallons if they are really bad and spray every couple of days until they are gone. I put this in a 2 gal. pump up pressure sprayer and just leave it in there until I don't find anymore pests.
hope this helps. and do post a picture of your sunflower if you can. Carolyn
