When the sun was rising this morning there was a heavy cloud cover. The sun rising through the clouds ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) After I took this photo I noticed the light reflecting off the trees to the West and there was a rainbow streaming down. The trees were a brilliant orange like they were on fire. rainbow at dawns early light ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) I could not see the entire arc of the rainbow because of the clouds but I did find the other end of it. If you look closely you can see it through the trees. ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) It was a great start to a rather dreary day. Rain is in the forecast for the next few days. This is a photo of a sunset I took on Nov. 11th. Sunset Nov 11 ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden )
Gosh those photographs are spectacular Gail!! I love the last one where the trees look as though they are being consumed by a forest fire. It may have been a dull, dreary and rainy day but you certainly captured the very best parts of it. :-D
Amazing! I was always fascinated by Rainbows, perhaps because I have seen them for just 2 or 3 times only. I once also took a picture of a total solar eclipse (in August of 1999). So that I think is the only sight that can beat a Rainbow - Otherwise, Rainbow wins every time!
You have some pretty dramatic sunsets there, Gail. I'm glad that you had the camera by the hand. Are these great sunsets common there? SDunrises....sunsets--you get all the best.
Thanks for the nice compliments Eileen, Netty, S-H and Sjoerd. Sjoerd we do get to enjoy beautiful sunsets most of the year because of the location of our home. The sun sets behind our house and we have a wall of windows in the family room and kitchen. We get the best views in the fall & winter when the leaves are off the trees. ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) The sun rises at the top of the hill so we only get to see it as it rises above those homes but we can see the light reflecting in the sky.
Well, I have finally seen a sky that compares to our sunsets here in Texas. I won't get into a comparison contest because with your photography skills, you would win! Super photos--you have an eye for nature's best. Thanks for sharing the beauty.
These are beautiful! In Autumn, the sky and the trees make up for loosing all our colors in the flowers.
