We've had a "super moon" for the last few nights, an occurrence that won't happen again until 2030, or thereabouts. Frankly, I didn't see anything "super" about it, except it did light up the night. 2016 Super Moon.jpg

It was rather cloudy here so the images are not perfect.

The news said it would appear to be bigger and brighter. I couldn't tell any difference in size. But it certainly was bright.

I heard one explanation of the super moon compared to the regular full moon.....normal full moon would be like a 8 inch pizza, the super moon was an 8 1/2 inch pizza. Not so much super large but the fact that it was closer to the earth than it has been since 1948 and won't be again until 2034.

We saw it here and, yes, it was brighter then usual but not noticeably larger than others we've seen. In the 1980's we saw super moon and again in 1992 then 2011 - all of which were larger than this one. My eldest son is interested in astronomy and says they are called Perigee moons. I'm just glad that we got the chance to see this one as it was so cloudy earlier in the day yesterday.

It was rather a bit bigger, I've seen bigger though. Actually, last Wednesday morning the moon was ginormous and yellow/orange. Gorgeous.
Marlin and Pal, those are some great photos.

Not really a good closeup. But it was a beautiful golden moon above the lighthouse.

Chrisle, that photo would make a wonderful note card cover, or post card. Wow is all I can say!
