This little strawberry plant was bought about 3 weeks ago as a plug plant and I woke my hubby up this morning and he told me my strawberry plant was in flower I laughed at him and said you been dreaming again and he said no seriously it's in flower. I came down stairs and low and behold there he is in all his glory!! strawberry flowering in Feb! Now the question is what do I do these were going to be planted out in the warmer weather and were hoping to get a few more, we are now forecast snow for tuesday so he cant go outside I really didn't think they had grown so much but last few days they have shot up.

thank you Eileen i can hope! This might be a really stupid question  but if there is only one flower and it is inside how will it get pollinated to produce the fruit?

What a good healthy looking plant and a cute little blossom.

I don't think you have to worry about the blossoms now, once it is outside in the warm ground it will start blooming profusly and those will get pollinated.

Thank you Penny and Toni, I am guessing then I cant expect a fruit off this flower just yet as I am guessing its going to be a while before they can go outdoors if we are expecting more snow and frost. Was just a surprise for it to have a bloom already!

My strawberry plants in the garden have some flowers too - even though we got snow last night.

oh my! snow strawberrys :D I hope theyre ok. I have read i can pollinate the flowers with a q-tip by gently rubbing it around the flower so might try that when its open.

I leave my strawberry plants out all year round and they produce fruit for me every year without fail. Our temperatures dropped to -12C during the winter and I see new leaves growing already.
