Been watching the Tour de France and it has been going through rural England for the past 3 days. I'm not a big bicycling fan, but I like watching the tour to see the towns and countryside. A cheap way to see Europe !

What a good idea. I love to take drives to garden watch.

Capt do you have a local PBS TV station? They usually air Rick Steves Europe and sometimes one called Globe Trekker, both are great for seeing places that you know you never to get visit in person.

What did you think of Yorkshire? It is one of our most beautiful counties when the big cities are excluded.Judging by the pictures though, most of the city dwellers turned out to watch the tour too.

We first went to France because of a place we had seen on the tour. Have a google of gorge de l'ardeche and you'll see why we were drawn to the area.

Kia, I love all of the UK. I was on the USS Nimitz when it pulled into Portsmouth but had to take emergency leave to come home. Rode the train from Portsmouth to Lakenheath to catch a flight to the States. That's the way to see the countryside. I was surprised by the amount of wheat that is grown in Yorkshire.
