As I said, I do not garden but I fellowship with a gardener. This morning I went out the front door and suddenly realized I had said "Good Morning" to the daffodils. Is this a sign of senility, am I around the bend or do all gardeners talk to their flowers? I need to know. Desert Rat

Now what orchid would that be Jan?? :headscratch:

Not the one I brought back from Holland for you, at great expense, and personal hardship surely?

Not the one that had the most beautiful purple blooms on it? :smt045

Not the one that was sitting in a pot when I came to visit with only one leaf hanging on by it's toenails?

Not the one, that when I touched it, the leaf fell off leaving nothing but a stick standing in the soil?!!! :smt012

Not the one that was ever so slightly DEAD Baccy??!!!!!!!

I welcome all of my seedlings as they emerge...sad but true.

I congratulate my veggies as I harvest them...probably even sadder!

And I stroke and natter to my plants in the conservatory as I water them.

I'm afraid once you have started, there is no turning back.

I talk to my plants all the time too. I welcome them to my garden when they are planted or the seedlings emerge. I thank them when I harvest anything from them. And in late autumn when the first freeze is forecast I go out and thank the annuals and tell them goodbye and tell the perennials good night.

You can probably guess what I say to the weeds as I am pulling their little life sucking bodies out of the ground....ooops, sorry  , I spent a good part of yesterday doing just that.
