I've been pulling this plant out for years now and this year I thought I would let it grow and see what it does. It grows in a very dry spot and gets full sun for most of the day, yet it always looks healthy (probably why I always thought it was a weed LOL) Anyone know what it is??
Hi Netty, it has a lovely cluster of flower,..i wouldn't know what it is,..nor am i going to guess,..but doesn't it look similar to The Rose Of Sharon?,..and St John's Worth.
Hi Netty, I was just wondering if you could tell me if this is an annual, biennial, evergreen, height, etc. I'm looking, but I'm taking a stab in the dark each time. I'd like to help if I can. Netty I ran across a picture in my book...... Jasmine humile. You might want to google this and see if the image and description fit your plant. My picture isn't identical, but they are taken from different distances and I can't really see if the flower is just like yours. Description: Evergreen, bushy shrub that bears bright yellow flowers on long slender, slender, green shoots from early spring to late autumn. Leaves with 5 or 7 leaflets, are bright green. 10'x10' zones 7-9 I'm not sure if this is what you have or not... I'm really thinking not, since it's a 7-9 zone plant and yours looks like the stem the leaves all the way up the stem or at least that is the way it looks in the picture to me.
Tall plant with clusters of yellow flowers posted 7/16/2011 Netty, your plant looks like the same plant I bought in a hanging basket two weeks ago. Did you ever identify it? Your plant is the only one I've been able to locate that has similar blooms. My hanging basket is blooming profusely and looks somewhat like it may be a type of vine. The plant is very lush but needs frequent watering. I need to learn how to best care for it. It is so pretty. Any help you might give me would be appreciated. Your garden is beautiful. Thanks. No, I never did ID this plant. It looked quite a bit like the suggestion of Jasmine Humile, but that is a zone 8 plant and I am in zone 5. It may be something in that family ... I'm still looking. This plant would definitely NOT be in a hanging basket simply because of it's size and form.
