A pretty generic description but that's what it is. I know it is an herb, bought it a couple of years ago and have lost the name tag....surprise, surprise.

Nope, not either one. The flowers are 5 petal, not cupped like evening primrose and not button like as Tansy is. I wish I could find some Tansy, I have been wanting to add it to my garden.

Eureka!!! Course that would explain why I found a label for St. John's Wort laying around out there, it was in another pot so now I have another one to get IDed.

Thanks Droopy. I probably should have cut it back this spring to make it bush out more...is it too late for that now?

I have no idea, Toni, but I often cut back blooming stuff with good result. I call it posy gathering and put the cuttings in a vase to decorate our livingroom.

We don't grow Hypericum. It's a weed around here and I'm not inviting it in.

For hundreds of years it has been used for mild cases of depression. I think I am going to dry the leaves to make a cup of tea once in a while and infuse some of the leaves into olive oil for relieving joint pain and to use on bruises or scrapes, etc. It has antibiotic qualities.

Yup, St John's Wort. I've got it growing all over the lower part of the property.
