On the 6th and 7th June it is the Tatton Park Orchid show, this is the annual show for the North West Orchid society and once in the park it is free to enter, the entry fee for the park is £4.50 per car then you can pay to see the attractions such as the gardens and farm and house if it is open the Orchid house at Tatton will be open from 1-4pm to browse at your leisure, you do not have to be a member of the society to join, there will be societies from across the UK and vendors selling orchids and related goods. I am hoping to make it as it is not too far from me and I didnt make the show in Barton yesterday. Just wondered if anyone else in the UK would like a day out at the park and get to see the orchids also. here is a link to the North West orchid society for details. http://orchid.org.uk/tatton/index.htm[/url]
I once went to Tatton Park (not at orchid show time though) and it was a really wonderful day out. I only wish I could have spent more time there as there was just so much to see. My camera was red hot with all the piccies I took. One day I've promised myself that I'll travel down there again - maybe in time for the orchid show as I dearly love orchids. :-D
That would be great EIleen I have not been to the park but some people I have spoken to have and the pass to see all the attractions is only £7 and can be used on another day if you dont get to see them all you just have to pay the car entry fee again, which even for me with not lots of cash £4.50 is a good value day out if you already have the pass. Would be great if you could make it down there. Let me know if you make it this year or next and we could arrange to meet up somewhere there. the Orchid show is an annual event and I guess around the first weekend in June each year.
I do not think so Sjoerd but I cant be certain. I can promise though to take lots of photos to share.
I will make sure I take plenty of photos then and share my day out If I can take a big enough card for my camera I will take some of the gardens as well. Weather permitting of course!
To far for me, such a shame as I love orchids, and as I can't get the b*ggers to grow for me, I do try to get to the odd show so I can admire those gorgeous flowers. Like everyone else, I will look forward to seeing your photos.
I also love orchids but have had no success in growing them. Alas, too far for me, but would love to see your photos
