A couple of years back I bought my husband 2 cherry trees. One was a Ranier and the other was a Bing. I was told we needed 2 trees for pollination. Well, needless to say one did not make it and we do not know which it was  The neighbor down the street has a cherry (don't know what kind) and the little old lady across the street has a pie cherry tree. Will either one of these pollinate our tree or do I have to find another compatible tree?

I think they may be able to crossbreed, so they might still produce some cherries.

According to flowerworldusa.com, not all sweet cherries will pollinate each other. They have this chart http://www.flowerworldusa.com/charts/Po ... Cherry.pdf which may help.
Sour cherries wont pollinate sweet and vice versa, so if either of your neighbors trees are sour (and according to them, pie cherries are sour), that wont help.
