Territorial or Mating Display?

    Had two RT hummers at the feeder tonite. Usual female and another that had it's back to the binoculars so couldn't ID. Do females ever do the swooping mating display???? Read somewhere that the female RT does? But then why would she if there is a female at the feeder....so figured it must have been a male. If it was just territorial, wouldn't one just chase the other away? Saw this once before a couple of years ago but it was late in the season and they should have been getting ready to go south. Maybe the males don't care what the timing is?? We only get the RT here so don't know about any of the other hummers and their activities.
