I acquired a new camera about a week ago, and am learning how to use it. I got a Sony Alpha 300 Digital single lens reflex, 10.2 mega pixel. It came with an 18-70 mm lens. There are a large verity of optional lens' available. I think that I'd like to get a 70-500 mm telephoto lens. The camera is just about instant on, and shoots a picture right when I push the button, and it shoots in bursts of 3 shots per second. The Eagles, one of my primary targets, always seem to be just too far away to get a nice detailed shot.So a nice telephoto lens might make a nice addition to the kit. I tried some close ups, and some long shots, I tried to get shots of the fireworks, and just regular stuff. I'll include some of my practice shots. I'm like a kid with a new toy, I take it along way more often than I aught to.

I took this one and when I looked at it in the computer, I found a second Eagle just below the one that I was watching.

Your photos are very nice. I like the peony and the eagle. :D

Editing to add "...BEST", because I like all the other photos as well. Some times my brain thinks the words and my fingers just can't manage to keep up. :(

Don't you just love having a new camera?!!! I'm still playing with mine and I've had it for over a year now. Yep I'm addicted as it goes everywhere with me - it's like a second pair of eyes.

I love the shot of the eagles Tom and that rose is just sooo beautiful and does indeed look like rich velvet. :-D

Give Connor an extra birthday hug from me please. I can hardly believe that he's a year old already.
