And it is in my backyard. I was working on the Hugelkultur this morning and heard this beauty rustling in the leaves. I have had Geckos for years and an occasional toad but never a Lizard like this one. He looks huge but is about 8 inches long.

What a beautiful creature Toni. I hope he stays around and eats lots of those nasty bugs that destroy plants.

He looks neat and I hope he is eating nasty bugs - but - what does he eat?

They typically eat Crickets, Grasshoppers, Worms and non-toxic caterpillars and sometimes will jump in the air to catch a butterfly. I guess I need to have a talk with this one, let him know that he is to leave the caterpillars and butterflies alone!!!

Lizard envy! He is gorgeous, and if he wants to vacation farther south, my garden is available.
    Thanks for the photo, Toni.

Very cool! My heart would have been pumping a mile a minute if I were to see that in my garden. We had a Red bearded dragon as a pet. He now lives with two fine ladies, and is a proud poppa, and grand poppa many times over. We visit him every so often, and he still recognizes our voices when we approach his habitat.
