are you all okay? I saw a tornado touched down and destroyed homes and lives were lost. Prayers for any who were touched in any way by this devastation.

I've just been hearing about this too. Fingers crossed none of our members have been affected. I feel so sad though for those that lost their lives and their homes.

I think Toni is the closest... being north of where they hit... that is if my memory of that area is correct.

It was a bit southwest of Toni. I saw that Carrolton was getting some bad storms last night. Maybe she got more than a quarter inch of rain. She'll be okay though.

Dooley is right, it was all southwest of me about an hour to an hour and a half away. Granbury, the hardest hit, is the town with my favorite junque shop, we go down there a few times a year. We have also been to Cleburne on our junquing weekends but mainly just to stay at a hotel there. Ennis is the town where Randy grew up.

Hail that large is unusual here but not unheard of. In 1995 a hail storm hit Fort Worth in May during an outdoor festival near downtown, hail stones then were reported at 5" and larger.

During the evening there were tornadoes a little ways west of us that appeared to be heading in our direction but the storm fell apart and the warning was cancelled.

We just got some high winds and lots of rain. Yep, I got more than a 1/2 inch of rain, the gauge has just under 2 inches in it. Usually when we have that much rain that quickly our front porch area gets flooded but the ground was so thirsty that it soaked in almost as quickly as the fell.

Glendann has a friend down near that area I believe, but I don't think we have any members down there.

Toni, glad to hear you got beneficial rain but no damage. I feel for the folks in Granbury--a subdivision in south Granbury was hit hard. They are still searching the rubble for survivors.
We got rain, about 3/4", and wind. My husband is out cutting up a large limb that came off one of our hackberry trees. Hackberrys are "self-pruning" in that you cough and they drop something!

My son used to live in Cleburne, and we lived near Keene when the kids were small. Granbury is just a hop, a skip and a jump away... That son was only 15 miles from the explosion at the fertilizer plant recently, he says he didn't notice it? I think he slept through it.

I hope the missing are all found safely, and soon.

Just read about the horrible news and a video clip from NBC. Are all our North Texas friends accounted for? Glad that tornado that was heading your way gave up Toni and happy to know you are safe. A couple of weeks before we visited New Zealand, a tornado just pass by one our friends house and luckily there was no damage. We can still see the path of damages done by that tornado. That was horrible.

Toni, So glad you are OK, I was concerned about you. Sad news. Tornadoes are not to be taken lightly! We have potential for severe weather here this weekend. A little rain would be great, but not the wind or hail!
