I keep thinking about @marlingardener when I read about the Texas wildfires. If you are reading this, I hope you are OK and at least not too close to all of that. I know how it feels. I have had to evacuate twice in four years. I have removed flammable bushes and trees from the areas nearest to my house, and replaced wood based mulches with crushed lava rock. Still, it could all burn easily, in minutes. Just be as safe as you can! I'm thinking about you.
Daniel, how kind of you! We are in central Texas, a few hundred miles from the panhandle wildfires. We aren't even getting smoke or ash. However, we are preparing for evacuees if the shelters have to be evacuated. It's not likely, but it's better to be prepared, just in case.
Well, that's just great! I'm so glad you are not in the midst of all that! Texas is a big state, but ya never know! Preparing is always a good thing. I keep my go bag supplied and ready.
I didn't know about this MG...I'm so glad you are safe and okay. I'm very glad the smoke and ash is staying away from you. This family in Canada is thinking of yours in Texas and hoping all is safe for those struggling with the fire. I'm relieved you are not one of them.
Thank you all for the good wishes! Our little town is low on the list of possible evacuation sites, but we are on the list. If a shelter is opened, it will likely be in a church annex, which means cots, bedding, clothing and food will be needed. Don't know how, but together we'll manage it!
