It's the first day of spring. I want to thank Mother Nature for her nice gift of white fertilizer. Her generosity is overwhelming. I powered up the fertilizer blower last night and redistributed what was on the driveway as nothing grows there except one weed in a crack. She sealed in the fertilizer with a crust of ice so it will stay put and won't blow anywhere. That was thoughtful. The roadways have a nice coat of ice, that will save on tire ware and help us improve our skill at sliding on slick surfaces. And her timely reminder about filling the bird feeder by placing it on the ground, I'm sure the birds will appreciate that. And lastly, I'm sure it was an oversight, after all she is so busy but could she look into my request for spring flowers? I put in the request earlier this year. Perhaps the request was misfiled under fertilizer and fertilizer under flowers, after all they are so close together.
I have to go out today so I will try and not bump into anyone. It is such a lovely day.

    Thank you Mother Nature,

    Jerry

She's been very free with her ice crusts this year. We never got much white fertilizer. I'm so glad I've got studs in my car tires, studs to put on my shoes and boots, and horses with four studs per hoof. :D

There is an old wives tale that you will get 3 snows after the forsythia blooms. It ain't bloomed and it dosen't even have buds on it! The groundhog lied to us. Never trust a rodent that is afraid of his shadow!

I think I tried to plant my garden too early.

Well if it's any consolation Jerry Mother Nature dealt out lots of white fertilizer here too (and is still giving us more.) She also gave us lots of hard frosts and icy gales too just to make sure that we all stayed safe indoors. Isn't she considerate?
Just when my frogs began to lay down spawn she decided to freeze the pond and dump eight inches of the white stuff on top - I doubt if I'll have taddies this year somehow. Maybe she thought the frog population had reached saturation point in this area. :-?
I have seedlings in the greenhouse that have grown enough to plant out but I'd need a pneumatic drill to break the surface of the ground so they'll have to stay where they are for the time being.
Maybe she'll move on and give someone else some of her generosity. At least we can only hope she will and soon.

People around here are talking recipes for groundhog stew. Mother Nature is sprinkling the white fertilizer on us today. Cold too!
Plants are not breaking dormancy yet, we're getting so anxious for some warm temps and green growing...anything!

Good one Jerry :D . We had snow this AM in the foothills. The Olympic Mts. are now white capped and there is snow at the cabin. I know spring will get here soon.... :?:

We got 8" of fluffy stuff here last night. It is lovely, but it got up to 40' today, so it won't stay here long. It is down to 35' and supposed to rain later tonight and tomorrow? My flowers are buried in the fluffy stuff, and it is getting dirty now. It sure is hard to keep it clean and pretty. When I am outdoors, it sounds like people walking around in the woods, but it is only the fluffy stuff jumping off the trees.

Maybe with this extra nutritious fluffy stuff, my garden will grow better this summer ? I hope so.

    Nice one Jerry. :p

5 days into spring and I definitely think Mother Nature has got her filing in a twist. She's currently providing us with more white stuff-just in time to cover next door's forsythia and the few crocuses I have. :-|

Apparently the jet stream is a LOT further south than it should be and ominously, this was the case last year when we had the miserable excuse for Summer :-(
