    Beautiful poppies...

    Very beautiful poppy, Barb!

The first time I ever tried to grow poppies, they did not work. Or so I thought. What I believed were tiny seedlings of lettuce were transplanted to the vegetable garden, where they promptly died. :(

Next year, same thing. The baby lettuce didn't like being transplanted. The next year I decided fine, let the lettuce grow in the walkway and other odd areas, I didn't care anymore.

They grew. They grew bigger. And guess what? I was not growing lettuce. I was growing poppies. This is what became of the lettuce I allowed to grow:

    (pardon the copyrights  )

Needless to say, I was thrilled. Last year we had tons of poppies and this year I expect even more. I'm so excited!
