I've mentioned before, that the roses my wife doesn't like end up here, along the fence to the side of the drive down the side of our house, because I won't chuck them out.

It gets little sun, so everything struggles. But one always does it's best. She can't avoid this one any year, as it "watches her" every time she goes into the kitchen.

But it never gets a repreive.

Mee too! And it is working hard to match your kitchen appliances.

@carolyn, I had a similar thought, especially about all that watering!

    Waterings never a problem.

The leaky hose system takes care of the borders. It's in three sections. It's controlled by a tap over the drain outside the kitchen window.. The pipe goes under the patio and comes up near our first Japanese lantern. Two hoselock valves either side of the rockery means I can water the bed near the house, the rockery and the rest of the border round as far as the tea-house, either individually, or in any combination of two, or all three.I usually let it water the lot all at the same time.

The pop up sprinklers take care of most of the lawn

I've two hose reels, one outside the kuitchen window for the tubs along the alley and front garden.

and another on the front of the shed for the pots on the two patios or anything else.

    And thereby hangs a tale.

We've had a number of different small appliances. over the years, as will have most people.
We bought a red Kitchenaid coffee machine and a two slot toaster in 2005 when we had a new kitchen. We liked the retro style.

The coffee machine had to be replaced under its five year guarantee in 2010.
A few years later the toaster packed up so we bought a Dualit.
Then about seven years ago we went to Currys to buy a new tumble dryer and a four slot Kitchenaid toaster "followed me home," (it was reduced in their sale).
It's all "singin' and dancin'." It'll toast just one side of a bagel, if you want it to, so it should, for what they cost.

I sold the Dualit on eBay.

That toaster has had to be replaced twice under guarantee.
The last time a year ago, they gave us a voucher for 20% off another product, for the inconvenience, so we bought a red kettle. You can set the temperature. According to the instructions, for Earl Grey tea which my wife likes, you want the water at 80f, (apparently). But if I'm making it, I just let it boil 'cos I have PG. I don't think she's bothered.
They both "beep" when they are done. It's the same sound as the washing machine makes when it's finished. They have all beeped at the same time, at least once.

We'd been using a cheap red kettle from Tescos, that's now in a box in the garage.

The coffee machine finally packed up two years ago, so I bought a red Smeg, that was about half the price of the Kitchenaid. It'll only make one cup at a time and you can only brew coffee or froth milk.
With the Kitchenaid you could do both at the same time as it had two boilers. But the Smeg is brilliant, it's programmable. The Kitchenaid was either "on or off."
