Well, I really do not know how to properly capture all of the aspects of the Kunstroute (Art Route). The lotties are so small and narrow and the paths are too close to the front of the displays and in many lotties the art objects were so spread out that one could not achieve a comprehensive, or shall I say all-encompassing view or vantage to capture it all on one foto.

What I had to do was to select single objects or small groups of objects and klik that. Because of the limitations and the poor weather, I wound up with a group of pics of which I am not particularly proud. Having said this, I did take enough foto's to give one an idea of the day and what the participants had to show.

The foto's appear in no particular order.

The paintings, sculptures, handicrafts and doo-dads are placed in sometimes seemingly odd places, between plants and hanging or racks, for instance. This being their first year and on short notice-- there is a feeling of un-preparedness when you see the displays. Not exactly the Musée du Louvre, you know what I mean? Ach, but that isn't really important for this informal and well-meant fun-day.

Let's get started then, shall we....
The first couple of views are from my gardening pal, Hetty from just up the way from my allotment.

Those were off to the side; however, along the fence and almost touchable was this table with smaller objects.

Across the sidewalk from Hetty is a garden full of things displayed by Margot (one of the two organizers of this walk).

    Another angle of Margot's efforts:

Then around the corner from Hetty and Margot is Andrea. She displayed her paintings adjacent to Margot, as her garden was too out of the way, she thought.

Andrea had these to show as well:

One of the displays that I liked was this one in the garden of Herman and his bride. I just loved how the simple white forms were so complimented by their purple blanket of Verbena bonariensis.

    Then, this garden--a simpler presentation.

I especially liked this oil painting nestled in amongst the beans. I found this modernistic and quite good in its own right; however, its placement seemed to make it even more interesting.

One of the more unique displays was this one. It is a display of past christmas presents that the lady and her man have given their children over the years.

The path was lined with the small and fancy, no doubt the thrills of christmases past were exciting for the two kids.

And then this for the little man:

Of curse one had favs, mine was the work of my nearest neighbour. Here a few examples:
The first was a bust that she made...when you look at it from this angle it looks a bit like it's title, "The Cannibal".

However, from this angle--I see a Greek maiden which might have been adorned the capital of a long-lost temple.

Out in the garden, she placed this school of fish in her little bed.

I liked the form and colour scheme of this painting.

The haunting image of this stained glass piece engages ones eye and disturbs the imagination.

    Finally...
The day before the Art Route, I popped over and made a little video of the inside of the neighbour woman's work studio (garden house) where she devotes almost as much time to her artistic endeavours as she does to maintaining her lovely garden. Just LEFT KLIK on the foto below in order to see the vid.

WOW, what beautiful and very interesting art pieces. That stain glass image is 'interesting' to say the least.

I love the school of fish, I have 4 that my oldest daughter gave me for my birthday a couple of years ago that are out in the Pineapple Sage

Interesting. I like the copper fishes.

Does your calling your yard an "allotment" mean that people are only allowed a certain amount of land ? Or is it just what you call your yards over there ? It sounds as if the land around a home is rationed somehow.

My favorite two things, gardening and art. What a wonderful thing to see. You have some very talented artists for neighbors. The placement of the sculptures in the purple flowers was a work of art in itself. All the Lottie's are so neat and full of lushious flowers and plants and the plus of art work. My very favorite is the modern portrait between the runner beans.

Am so glad you share this :stew2: :stew2:

I've always said that gardeners are also true artists. Whether it's sculpture, painting or photography they all seem to show skill or excellence in execution. Your neighbours have all put on a wonderful display of their work.
I love 'The Cannibal' and the display in the Verbena garden.
I hope you'll all make this a yearly event as it was wonderful to see all the different art forms your neighbours displayed.

Very interesting Sjoerd! What a great idea. Was this Kunstroute where your allotment is, or a different one?

Thanks so much, CHERYL--That was so nice to hear.

Glad that you liked the art, TONI--The idea to place your fish in the pineapple sage was inspired!

Thank you so much, DOOLEY--Pass along my thanks to DR too, will you. Glad he liked the idea.

Glad you liked those fish, AANIGHTOWL-- Just a word about "allotments":
I am a member of a gardening club. We all have allotments which we rent, and these allotments are located on the complex. There are more than 100 allotments on our complex.
Allotment complexs are either owned by the local municipal government or they are privately owned by the gardening clubs. We fall into the latte.
So, you see--the lotties are not a portion of someone's yard, but rather a parcel of land rented away from one's house. In my country the typical place is along rail road tracks.

Thanks JEWELL--You really do "get" the Art Route, don't you. I like that portrait between the runners as well. I was happy to share this.

Hi DONNA S-- So pleased that you liked this posting and the little vid.

EILEEN--I am really pleased that you liked the bust and Verbena. I know that you like art.

Hey NETTY--Great that you liked the Verbena display. I am glad to hear that you will try it next year. Just remember that they are sparce and you will need to plant a lot together if you want to have them noticed.

CAYUGA--The Kunstroute was on our allotment complex where I have my allotment. I am happy that you found this interesting and liked the idea.I have my fingers crossed that they will do this again next year.

Glad you liked that little vid, BUNKERS--I shall tell my neighbour that you liked her studio. That Art walk WAS a good idea, wasn't it.

What a talented lot of friends and neighbours you have Sjoerd.Art and gardening definitely go hand in hand so thank you for sharing your pictures and video.

Perhaps your friend took her inspiration for the stained-glass from

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Struwwelpeter

    there is a passing resemblance.
