I do lurve a good bean. Beans are a staple for us. This year we are growing four different types. What’s not to like about beans. Such a variety of flavours, textures and…colours. To begin with, our fav, the “Rakker”, so lovely hanging there. They are almost wiggling in the wind, asking to be picked. Next, the yellow spekboon— “Nectargold” Here’s a little trugfull of bean sorts and courgettes. No purple Blauehilda's, because the last ones I left on the plant to mature and dry for planting next year.
@Sjoerd I really enjoyed your commentary along with the perfect hanging beans while summoning your attention. You always make your posts interesting and informative. As lovable as your garden is, it stands among the very best in your garden community. How lucky we are to see all your weekly , monthly and yearly garden updates. It’s encouraging and inspiring . Thank you very much. So glad you’re here.
Sometimes we have similar timing, and sometimes it's very different. Your green and yellow bean crops are so lush and enviable. Mine have just germinated. I planted some much earlier, but the many herbivores got them all. Birds, slugs, bugs, voles, who knows? Summer - planted ones mostly seem to escape that fate. They should have a crop in September. So mine are much later. Similar with tomatoes. Your bounty is beautiful. Mine have just begun. The early young plants were set back by black flea beetles. I'm hopeful for a productive September. Meanwhile, I have yours to enjoy!
Thanks Pac— I’m glad you liked this posting so much. Those beans are looking so good, I am a little sorry they are coming to seasons’ end. Such nice compliments today. I appreciate that. Daniel—cheers mate. My fingers are crossed that you will get some good harvests at the end of the season. Good luck.
@Sjoerd my fruiting has just begun should be a bountiful harvest when it's time for me. Bean did extraordinary growing this year.
I had a good bean year too! That is after I evicted the rabbits and replanted my beans for the second time. The first rush of beans is almost done now, and then I wait for the second rush in a few weeks. I planted 'provider' and 'rattlesnake' pole beans this year.
