So I didn't really know what I planted but they are sure cute.

As I have posted before I use these boots every year for plants. They are the boots of the fellow who built my home many years ago. I love him and his wife. They left his whole work outfit in the old tool shed when he moved so I re-purposed them.

What ever they are, they are sure blooming very late. I will have to take them into the greenhouse for the Winter but that may be interesting. They probably will have to be dried out a bit.

The old boots are beginning to show a little wear and they need now laces, which I will replace soon.

Oh I like the idea of the boot planters and I know I've seen the flower before but I don't remember the name. What a lovely way to remember good friends.

Common name is peacock orchid. It is actually a gladiolus. They need to be lifted unless you are zone 8 or more so it's good that you will be taking them inside. Otherwise they won't bloom anymore. I have just the greens now because I didn't lift them the first year.

Oh thanks. Just searched it. They have the most gentle fragrance. So beautiful.

I was going to keep them in the greenhouse at about 65 degrees. Should I let them dry out or keep them a little watered?

I love them..Do they always bloom in the Fall?

I'm sorry I've never done it so I can't tell you the best way. I hope you find good information that works for you.

The boots look good with those green leaves growing out of them. I like how you took this picture with back-lighting. That gave your piccy a whole other dimension.
    Well done, you.
