The Cardoon is in bloom

    I know some folks eat this stuff, but I grow it for the gorgeous blooms.

    This one opened late last week.

    This one bloomed fully overnight. It is too tall for me to look down on it for the picture so I had to hold the camera over it and hope for the best. I think this one is stunning with a little sunlight highlighting the middle.

    I have never heard of a flower called a cardoon before. It's beautiful!

    I grow them on the allotment, but like you Toni, for the flowers rather than the edible stems. Gorgeous.
