As much as I love all of my birds, the cardinal is always at the top of my list. I find them hard to catch on camera sometimes because they like to come in the very early morning or when it is getting dark.

It really is a beautiful looking bird and I wasn't really aware of it until Stew members started sharing photos of it. What makes them your favourite Sherry?

eileen...the first thing I do when it gets light is open up the curtains to make sure I have food on the trays closest to the house so the birds keep coming for me to watch.

Frank...I think my love of cardinals started when we lived in New London, Wi. I had a large tray feeder and in the winter with the white snow, I would get at least 6 pairs of them. We would sit and watch them every night. The color red really looks brighter on a white background. I think the one thing I miss about moving from that home was having a woods in my backyard and a lot more birds than we have here and a lot more different kinds.

My home has a lot of pictures of cardinals and pillows, etc. of them. Here is one of my favorite pictures of them... my husband had this one blown up and framed for me as an anniversary gift last year..

Beautiful photos. They are one of my favs too, practically for the same reason. They are such a sight for sore eyes when everything is covered in snow and ice.
Even though that doesn't happen here, I still enjoy seeing them.

They are the State bird here in Va. And I get to see them every day. I always have my camera on hand.

All of your pictures I have seen are really good but the cardinal on the icy branch is fantastic.

Beautiful photos Sherry8. I too, love the Cardinal. I have hand raised a few. They are a kind and precious bird to get to know personally.
