There were 239 cruise ships that visited Victoria last year and more are expected this year. This one was carrying all the tourist agents and those in the industry from all over the world, checking things out. This was taken from the lagoon as it made its way into Victoria, not a great shot as it was a long way off.
I lived in south Florida many, many (like 40+) years ago and remember seeing all sorts of cruise ships in port at Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Those things are gigantic!!! One thing I have never wanted to do is take an ocean cruise, I saw Titanic and Poseidon !!!
I have had two cruises to Alaska and one round the Hawaiian Islands, flew out to Hawaii and then onto the ship.
I've seen some of these floating hotels and they are magnificent. I don't think I'll ever go on a cruise but I do like watching them coming into the harbours.
I've been on many cruises, no better vacation in my mind. The first cruise I took was on the MS Volendam from New York to Bermuda. Looking at these new ships I think the Volendam would rate as a lifeboat in today's times.
