There are lotsa folks who are waking up today with what we call, "de kater"--a hangover. A kater is also a male cat. This one looks as if he is not amused...I suppose that he took exception to the implication the rotund snowcat presented. Being a cat-lover--I recognize this expression. If one has a cat, one must learn the art of non-verbal communication, else he looses the battle of meaningful co-existance with a feline family member. Cats keep you on your toes as they ever press the boundaries of acceptable behaviour and continually exercise their opinion of self-superiority. Well, I do not drink alcohol, but we had family over last night for supper, snacks and poker. We went deep into the night with our conversation and eating. My bride and I finally made it to bed at 04.00 hours. So we slept-in this "morning"....DUH. A good way to begin the day then is with coco and scones. The cream also added to the over all pleasure of a gentle day after wake-up. Here's wishing you all a great 2016 !
Thanks, Sjoerd; a warm and pleasant greeting for the FIRST DAY of 2016... Here is hoping you and yours are healthy, wealthy, and well and will stay that way throughout this year.. Hank
We stayed up until around 4 a.m......just Randy and I talking and watching a string of really old sci-fi movies on an oldies TV channel, some I hadn't seen since I was a kid and a couple neither of us had ever seen. But they were a fun way to end one year and bring in the next ....oh yeah, a little Southern Comfort was involved and a bottle of Champagne at the stroke of midnight too. Your breakfast looks like the perfect beginning for 2016, we may have biscuits with sausage gravy at some point this morning but first I need a couple more cups of coffee......and Randy will be out of bed maybe before noon.
Poor little kitty. Such a difficult life. Okay, now moving on to the New Year.... I hope you and your bride have a very nice new year... the whole way through. I went to bed at 10:00 and slept right through the celebration. My daughter asked if I heard the fireworks and then the big BOOMS. two of them. she said she was expecting to hear sirens for an emergency... I didn't hear them. no idea what it was. Your breakfast looks yummy. I rushed next door and made coffee and had a piece of toast with peanutbutter on it and then came back home to leave again for a new years service at church, yours looks ever so much more yummy.. Off to work now to finish the back splash.
I drove my daughter and son in law to a friends down the road, and then came home and spent the night with youngest daughter and the dogs. DH went to bed at regular time and missed it all. We rang in the new year, and then I picked up daughter and son in law up and we all came home and went to sleep. I made us all a big breakfast this morning, and it's been a lazy day ever since. I feel very tired today LOL
We didn't stay up for the New Year's arrival. I was awake and heard a couple of booms but not too much noise close to us. Slept a bit later than usual this morning. It was a lazy day with just taking down Christmas things. I see I still have cards taped along the shelves here. Guess I should take down all but the birthday ones. That's still coming tomorrow. You all get rested up from last night and get the New Year started now. Have a great one! dooley
Great hearing from you, HANK-- I hope that you and yours had a good year change. Glad that you liked the posting. The brekkie was a good one TONI, and yours sounds good too. What time did your man finally come out of hibernation? Hiya C--It was indeed quite tasty and easy-going. It sounds as if you had a very busy day after. I liked your posting, NETTY. Thanks for the well-wished, Dooley--It sounds like you did the smart thing by turning in early. hahaha. I find that taking the x-mas decs down sorta sad. I do enjoy the brightness and colour. You have a good new year too,. I was handling the aprons again today and thinking about springtime when I will begin using them again. BTW--do you make and sell them there?
Oh, my, the day after... We were tired. We celebrated with family, 14 of us, and it was late... eh... early morning... when we got home. We had a lovely New Year's Eve with lots of good food and good conversation. So the day after was very slow. I can't speak for the rest of the family but I had several fits of malfunction. I could have fallen asleep on a hay bale at one time. But never mind. We had some nice fireworks on at midnight too.
