we had a huge stump that had been on our property years before we bought it. Next to it was a huge part of the tree that had fallen into the water. We have had some pretty windy, rainy days this spring and some huge ice pieces floating in our area from Lake Poygan and this morning it broke away from the shoreline. Part of it must be stuck in the the bottom of the lake and I am praying it doesn't come off. My husband had broken the stump up and carted it off to the landfill but no way to get a huge piece out of the water. The ducks always sat on it and the turtles would sun themselves on it so I am sad to see it gone from the shore....Look closely at the photo...behind the dark heavy part is a narrower part without the bark..
Someone will be coming to look at it, we can't get it out of the water but we can have a barge lift it onto our property and then we can get it cut up....or have them take it away, not sure about them taking it.
This morning the piece of the tree is right back where it layed for years...still waiting for the company to come and help...
Sherry we've been waiting for weeks now for someone to come and help us remove the sycamore than came down in a storm. It's 40 feet in height and about 2&1/2 feet in width so far too much for us to tackle on or own. The company doesn't seem in any hurry to come and sort things for us. Hopefully, the one you are waiting for turn up soon and do the job safely and quickly for you.
Just heard from them, they will be here Saturday and take the tree limb out of the water and they are finding someone to cut it up and take it. Not sure of the price but it has to be done before it floats to the middle of the lake and someone hits it. Our neighbor to the left of us told him they could put it on his property and have it done. He will be building this summer so the property will be dug up anyways. It will be wonderful to have nice neighbors living next door.
