The farm market where I sell my aprons and tote bags moved location this week. We were down by the feed store on Hwy 75. This week it changed for Saturdays. Now, on Saturday, it will be on courthouse square in the middle of town on Hwy 21. It is a more visible location and it will be sponsered by the Chamber of Commerce. Today there were a few more vendors and of course dr and I. I did very well and sold several garden aprons and tote bags. I'll have to do some sewing this week. The newspaper person came by with his camera and stopped and took a picture of my farm aprons which started our whole apron project. Pea Pickin' Aprons was the result of making an apron that the farmers could use to pick purple hull peas so they would not have to drag a bucket behind them and could empty it easily at the end of the row. From that evolved the simpler garden apron and kitchen aprons and of course aprons for the kids. Tote bags was also an offshoot of the farm market, for carrying produce. Anyway, it went well and we are pleased by the change. dooley
I'm glad to hear that the move proved to be a success for you and DR Dooley. Who could resist your aprons and tote bags? I hope the newspaper prints a good photograph of your wears and that it increases your business. :-D
Good for you Dooley! Can you post us a picture of your bags and aprons? I would love to see them. I have only read several posts about them. thanks, carolyn
The new location sounds great Dooley, new customers, new exposure, and publicity too. Good luck!! Jerry
I enjoyed reading the posting, Dooley. I am a big appreciater of your aprons, as I have one. it is just hanging there waiting for the first harvest. I have beaps blooming and podding...so it's just a matter of time. Thank you again soi much for that wonderful and functional apron. i really do use it every year and plop all manner of veg into it--not JUST peas. I would put my spouds into it, except that I wouldn't be able to walk upright then. hahaha. I have used for spuds if I am only lifting one plant per day for a couple of meals. Did you ever get a fancy little lable to sew onto the aprons?
Thsi is good sounding news Dooely! I go to the farmer's markets around here and I've not seen anyone with garden aprons. I hope you can post the pic and article link too. Good luck keeping up with a business boom at the new location.
Dooley, That market is lucky to have you! Your unique aprons and totes will draw in customers for the other vendors. Having such an event downtown, on the courthouse square, is a boon for any town. Glad it worked out for you, and for the other people at the market.
I've been a bit lazy during the winter and spring and now I will have to get busy. I checked my project box today and though it has a lot of aprons in it there is only one garden apron. So I went to the shelves and sorted out material this afternoon. Soon, I will clear the table and cut some and put them in the project box. I, also, have bookmarks to make for the summer reading program at the library. I promised one book mark for each child who signs up for it. They are hoping for at least 60 kids. I'd better get started on that, too. It never rains, but it pours. My grandma used to say that. dooley
Dooley, I love my aprons, I bought several when I was in Texas and met you! I use my apron every day and my mom LOVES her apron that I bought her!
I'm pleased for you, Dooley. I like success, even other people's, and especially if the people are nice.
