I love to overwinter geraniums. I love the color of yours. I had to buy new ones this year because I gave mine to my son before we moved. I need to ask if they survived the winter at his house. I hope you get lots of blooms on it. dooley
Very nice Tina. I also overwintered geraniums. currently I have 2 reds and a pink. Did you get to overwinter anything else? Hats off to your first flower.
Thanks Dooley and Petunia. Nope, Petunia. This is the only one that I overwintered. I bought a white geranium this year. Hey, meant to tell you, 4 little coleus germinated in coffee filter method. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Fingers and more crossed for you Tina. I have 10 new coleus plus some others that I kept in the house through the winter. Way to go on your new plants.
I have more than one in bloom, over wintered in the basement. Martha Washington is in bloome. Couple pinks an oranges....they live on neglect here. I have a first time bloomer leaves are green with white edges.. THe first blooms are in bud now, and a brilliant orange red.. WIll have to show that off. A lady in california sent that to me. b
Hello all -- So, about this geranium thread....I'm glad it came up. Here is a geranium that I brought inside in the Fall. Now it is time to move it back outside. I should cut it back, right? It seem like it's lost some of its green so needs some food and sun, right? Thank you for your advice!!!
I had cut mine back in feb.. And did manage to root some . They should be cut. However mine were all brown I let it die down for winter . So it should work.. Yes you can feed it . I dont let them out over nite yet, but your area probably is frost free already..Ours isnt yet .May 15.
It should grow like crazy right now. Keep us updated on it .. What color is it? I keep mine yearly. My martha washington is purple with white in the bloom.
In the cold climates, we bring in the plants we wish to save thru the winter. We have heat inside. And winter outside.......THus over winter.. or winter over or what ever. It is snowing right now here in Penna.
I can't remember... Pink, I think. This plant has a funny history. I hung it on my porch last Spring and not 2 hours later, a house finch had made a nest in it... I lost so much sleep over those baby birds... I hope they never do that again! I was afraid to water during the crucial time but it survived and so did the four babies. I have a soft spot for it for that reason. I'll keep you posted.
Hey, you experts on Geraniums. Congratulations on getting them through to spring. What are the chances of getting a couple of cuttings, any color in return for my excess seeds (vegetable or flowers)?
