Holiday season is coming up real quickly here, schools will close for about 8wks, til the end of February and favorite pastimes begin to take over. One of the favorite things at our house during this time is fishing.......... we live close to the coast so it takes up a large part of my husbands time.Today was a fishing day and I went down to the boat ramp to see what the catch was like, but 'the gang' beat me, these pelicans are waiting for the fish scraps from the cleaning bench to be washed down the pipe into their mouths.
They just sit there and hold their ground like it is their right to gobble the scraps, they will not be chased away by anyone or anything.
The catch was not too bad, but of course the'big' ones got away and real serious fishing will begin next trip.....

P.S. my husbands love for boats and the sea has led him to be a skipper on the Volunteer Marine Rescue team which is at this minute searching the coastline for a missing person, hope they have success but it is very dark here right now, the water is warm so maybe they will find the person alive.

I do hope your husband and the rest of the Marine rescue team manage to locate the missing person. Fingers tightly crossed here for a favourable outcome.

Those pelicans certainly know where to find an easy meal. No hard work for them!!

Thankyou Eileen, they can only do their best, the police have gone on the water just now so it looks serious, no sleep for many tonight.

I know swans can be violent but what about pelicans? Where they giving you any dirty looks while you tried to shoo them away.

    That water is very clear!

Also hoping that the missing person is found safe.
And those pelicans are beautiful... but not as beautiful as that nice clear water!
    Happy fishing!

I hope the search and rescue went well. The pelicans sure know where to congregate for a hand-out. Nice photograph and clear water too!! Do you get the impression by now that a lot of people are impressed with the water?
