Tropical Storm Lee has stalled over our area. I am not complaining because we have not had rain for a month. Since last night we have had 6+ inches. The birds have been very active at the feeders and seeking shelter in the nearby trees. Here are some photos from today. Gorgeous pics . . . poor little birdies. We are getting remnants of Lee now in NC . . . it is starting to rain hard.
You know I quite like it when you have cabin fever as we get to see loads of great photographs. I'm glad you got lots of rain but I can't help feeling sorry for all your little feathered friends. However your garden seems to have appreciated having a good soaking. Let's hope there were still lots of dry places for your birds to shelter so that they could dry out.
Hi Gail, lovely picture of your flowers,..Happy Garden,..it looks like that,..i love that rose picture as well,..i really had to smile at the state of those poor wet soggy birds,..but bird pictures are very nice,..sorry you had cabin fever,..its then you notice the cobwebs,..lol.
Thanks Song, Netty, Eileen & Phillip. We surely needed the rain but we had a whole summer's worth in one day! Its still raining and more tomorrow. I am thrilled that I don't have to go out and water for a few days. I may have to check out those cobwebs tomorrow, I was distracted by all the bird activity today.
Hahaha...yes, I could tell that you had a touch of cabin fever. chuckle. No matter. The foto's of the wet birds are quite expressive. It shows them in a completely different light from what we usually get to see. Well, this is reality too. It looks like those cardinals are still suffering with whatever they had back a year or so ago when you showed that poor male with the bald head. Now it looks like this female is beginning to show signs of something similar. The male in the foto looks like he may have something going on as well, but perhaps that is just the rain. I hope so. I don't guess that you know what happened to that male with the bald head, do you? Your garden is lovely, I just hope that mildew doesn't set in on your lovely roses and other flowers.
The birds here were rejoicing in the little bit of rain we got here from "Lee"! Those are some great photos of your birds... even wet.
Thanks for your comments Kildale, Frank & Donna. Sjoerd, the first male cardinal I wrote about died, sadly I found him on my deck this spring. I do have one male & one female that are bald. I think the two in my current photo are just soaked...we had 7 inches of rain. We really needed it. My roses are okay but my phlox & zinnias have mildew, its been a hot & humid summer. Thanks for your comments. Cheryl, glad your birds & gardens got some rain too. Appreciate your comments.
