...plant her zucchini! I had hoped that the 4 Kildeer eggs out in my veggie patch had hatched by now. I've even checked and found their incubation time to be 24-28 days. The eggs were already there when I started planting my garden May 23rd so I guess they should hatch any time now.

I couldn't keep the smile off my face when I read your post Netty. Let's hope that the mother bird does a good job and that the eggs hatch soon so that you can get those zucchini in the ground. Great photographs by the way. :-D

Excellent series of foto's, Netty. ...You got the mother, the eggs and the undergrowth. Perfect.I hope that the bird will hurry up and finish incubating so you can finish your gardening there.
    They really are good shots.
    Thanks for showing them.

Lovely bird. :D I think I would have waited too, but very impatiently. Good luck with training that bird to go hatch quickly.

It is very kind and thoughtful of you to patiently wait for those eggs to hatch ;)

I went out to pick some strawberries this morning and there was no sign of the birds. I thought this quite odd. I came back out later in the day and still no birds. Hmmm...I wondered if they had hatched so I went to check the nest. There was nothing left there but a few pebbles! No egg shells, no babies, no parents! I didn't know what happened, but I knew what to do...plant Zucchini!

I don't know Daisybeans. Kildeer babies seem to be up and running quite soon after they hatch, but I thought I would at least find the egg shells. There is another nest out further on the lawn also with 4 eggs. There were 6 Kildeer out on the lawn this morning when I walked the dog so I guess it is possible that the babies are out there somewhere too.

Well, you sure did know what to do, didn't you.
I hope they do well for you. What kinds did you plant?

The Kildee eggs we had in the driveway finally hatched too. My brother got to see one of the hatchlings scurrying about. But when I got there, like yours, there were no signs of eggs. They hatched just in time too... because we're having alot of people over this weekend and they were right in the way. Silly birds... they need to find better places to make their nests! :-D
