Why was it so quiet walking on it today? We got RAIN this afternoon! I swear, you could hear the grass, ground, garden, trees, flowers... and yes people too... go "Ahhhhhh!" (you know that quenching sound like in the soft drink commercials?)
Wasn't alot of rain... probably around 1/2 to 3/4 inch. But it was the good kind of rain. At first a down pour (lots of wind too) but then settled into a steady drizzle for a couple of hours. We just sat in the garage and watched it come down. Temps went from 100F to at least the low 80s. I checked my water barrel and it is almost 3/4th's full.
Look how happy my Mandevilla Alice DuPont looks wearing rain drops.

I can't think of words to describe how happy the rain made me today. But there is this image that says it all...

We got almost 1/2 inch yesterday evening and it was wonderful. Of course by this afternoon it had all evaporated and the plants looked like they hadn't even gotten any but it was certainly nice while it lasted.

Cherylad, I know just what you mean! Here in Holland, and especially where I live, it's exceptionally dry this year.

Every tiny drop of rain is welcome, and makes nature & me feel exactly like your Snoopy :-D

(Over the past few days there have been tremendous thunderstorms and downpours in the south-east of Holland, gallons of water from the sky. Strangely enough they seem to have completely circumvented our town )

We had some rain on Sunday evening but it skipped us last night. Except the plants and grass are soppy wet this morning. Must be a heavy dew? The deck is dry so I don't think it rained. But, water is water and I probably won't need to water by hand today. Only a slight chance of more rain today but what we got was accepted with great appreciation.

It won't be as hot today, highs in mid-90s. So maybe it was enough moisture to get the plants through the day.

Rain in Texas is like manna from Heaven. Hope you get more, maybe the drought will break.

Jerry.... I think the last numbers I've heard is that we're nearly 12 inches BELOW our average rain fall so far this year. The lakes and rivers are showing many sandbars.
It's going to take quite a few heavier rain showers to make up that difference and end the drought.
But I'll graciously take whatever rain Ma Nature gives!

Glad you got needed rain. We have had the opposite - I was off work for the last two weeks of May and it rained almost every day.

I'm very happy for you! [IMG]

I wish you nice showers on a regular basis from now on until the end of August at least. Now, if I only knew where to direct my wish...
