You have all heard me complaining recently about the amount of snow we have already received this year. We had (are still having!) one NASTY winter storm today that has dumped huge amounts of snow on us. Our 580 foot drive way is knee high with snow and we are still trying to figure out what we are going to do with all the snow!
I managed to get a shot of the white out conditions today. It was like this ALL DAY!

I'm quite certain tomorrow will be a snow day for the kids as well as my husband who still can't get the car out the driveway.
So for those of you who want snow - I have surplus!

I haven't seen that much snow in years and years. These are remarkable fotos and give a really good idea how it's going over there. Burrrrr.
Good luck with that driveway. :-?

Thanks Sjoerd, we are going to need it! It is still snowing and now the wind is picking up again from the north so it should be a thigh high drift by morning.

That indeed is a lot of snow. It is pretty to look at, but I am sure for you and others having to deal with it, it might not be so pretty. Thanks for sharing your pics. Happy plowing

Last time I saw snow like that I had to put waders on to get to my vet job!!! I certainly wouldn't want to tackle it again now. I hope that you manage, somehow, to clear your driveway Netty. Please stay safe and warm and I really do hope the snow and wind will stop before things get even worse for you.

Oh, oh, oh, you'll be nice and warm for a long time trying to shovel all that snow. We usually have one or two big snowfalls like that during the season. I'm ever so glad husband bought the motor-snow-shoveller (what's it called in English, somebody?) and taught our next-door neighbour how to use it. We share part of our driveway. We normally just leave for work in the morning, our cars are very good in deep snow, and our later-working next-door partner gets out the machine and shovels.

I know what snow is.....I am from Wisconsin but so far we have been missed with quite a bit of snow that hit more south. Is this a usual amount so far for you? I do hope you have a snow plow or snow blower...

Netty: Here in Michigan have gotten a large bit of snow. We had gotten more snow again yesterday (sundy) that had about 20-25 schools closed. Though our kids did have school. They are calling for another storm on Thursday and then again over the weekend. I guess we have no worries about having a white Christmas-we'll deffinitly have it this year, won't we. Fortunatly we're lucky. My daughters boyfriend plows our drive, so we're able to get out. Sure do hope you can get help with yours.

Netty, I love that first picture...trees lined up with the fence in front and snow everywhere...my idea of heaven.

    Snowblower?

The sun is shining today somehow making the job a little easier. We are almost half way down the driveway now...on the 2nd tank of gas in the blower. The plow truck has gotten stuck twice so far because underneath the snow is a lovely sheet of ice. The second half has less snow and the plow should be able to get through it. And then there is the mailbox to dig out and the back roof to shovel off!
No! In fact I can't think of the last time we had a white Christmas. Last year we were cutting grass on boxing day. There is no doubt in my mind we will have a white Christmas this year.
This is more like what we get in February. We usually get a storm like this once a year so I hope this is it.
