If anyone knows what the shrub is called that would be lovely as I couldn't see a label anywhere  and there wasn't anyone to ask either. It stood about 5ft tall and had a similar spread(unless there was more than one plant)

I have no idea what this plant is but I love it. Could you take a picture of the whole plant one day?

Oh dear, that would mean having to travel back to Wales Barb... :D I'm pretty sure we will be back that way at some stage because it is sooooo beautiful so it wouldn't be much of a hardship.

In the meantime though, the whole bush was a myriad of leaves exactly the same as the picture, some bigger and some smaller.

Do you have a Botanic Garden near you or a large nursery? They could help ID the plant for you. Failing that get in touch with the Royal Horticultural Society and furnish them with a photograph. Do let us know if you manage to get a positive ID.

Here's the address for the RHS:

    The Royal Horticultural Society
    80 Vincent Square

I have not had a chance to look that up yet, Kia...however, I did see it on Gardners' World this past friday evening. It was early on in the show and was only there for a sec or so. Did you happen to notice?

    It occurred at minute 2.16.

I shall try and look that up after I rest-up a bit from this weekend. hahaha.

That is definitely it Sjoerd. Thank you so much for your detective work!

I didn't see the programme as Mark and I spent a couple of nights in London and when the programme was aired we were enjoying a wonderful meal in the hotel restaurant.

Thanks again for the ID. :D

You are more than welcome, KM.
It sounds like you guys had a good couple of days in London.

That plant really has impressive foliage, doesn't it.
